Pacific Beach has a couple of places to get good icecream.
The oldest ice cream and shake shop in PB is Mr. Frosty. Mr. Frosty is old school, American ice cream. Very good soft serve, the shakes are great. Chocolate dipped ice cream cones are just as good today as they were 50 years ago. Mr Frosty is located just a few feet apart from Dolci Mango.
Dolci Mango on Garnet Avenue offers its customers three flavors. Two Yogurt flavors, one water based mango flavor. Yogurt is available in plain or green tea. Half plain, half mango is very refreshing. Green tea has a more sophisticated taste. Not everybody will like green tea. The green tea flavor tastes different in combination with the mango. I would definitely advise to have half green tea, half mango.
The consistency of the Dolci Mango products is similar to regular soft-serve, the machine looks similar to a soft serve dispenser. The yogurt and mango flavors are all fat free.
In addition, fresh fruit or granola can be added to the serving.
The people at Dolci Mango are super friendly. Packaging is very well done and branded.
This is a great stop on a sunny afternoon in Pacific Beach. Whatever you prefer, high quality old-fashioned cones, or more modern frozen yogurt and mango. You can not go wrong.
Eat your ice-cream at the bay or the beach. Just around the corner is a field where baseball is played on occasion. If you are on foot, check it out. Maybe there is an interesting baseball / softball game. Felspar is also an excellent street for a walk to the beach. Much less busy than Garnet with very few businesses. Many people park on Felspar so there is still plenty of people walking around and things to see. My favorite coffee shop, Cafe 976, is located on Felspar number…..976. Once your ice cream is finished, head into 976 to get a coffee to go and some pastry to take home.
