The heat arrived in Pacific Beach this week. It is like mid-summer. Clear skies and warm beach weather draws the crowds out to surf or enjoy the beaches. Pacific Beach did not have good surf today. Small and wind-blown in the afternoon. Tomorrow might be a little better. Beachgoers enjoyed lots of intense sunshine. Sunscreen is a must in Pacific Beach. SPF 30 or more seems reasonable after experiencing the burning sun for a couple of minutes. The sun is intense in San Diego.
Even if you are used to the San Diego sun, sunscreen is mandatory. Being out in the water exposes one with reflections of the sun. If you plan to spend time in the open water on a San Diego summer day, use a water resistant sunscreen with the highest SPF you can find. Some people use sunblocker, look out for surfers with white faces.

Parking in Pacific Beach can be a problem on busy days or weekends. The bus can be a time-saving alternative to arriving by car. 2-3 blocks will usually be the maximum you need to walk. Within 2-3 blocks from the beach, one should be able to find parking even on busy days in PB.

There are just limited paid parking spaces such as the ACE Parking spots near Garnet Avenue or underground at the Hooters (close to the Seaside Cantina. See my full review for Seaside Cantina here!!!)  

The heat wave brings lots of visitors to Pacific Beach. If you like to join the crowds, such weekends are perfect. If you are looking for something more quiet, avoid the beach towns La Jolla and Pacific Beach. It will be more quiet further up the coast, for example Del Mar and Solana Beach.
